It’s been awhile, but things are settling down. I have all my Christmas shopping done, my cards are printed and I even printed address LABELS this year. That should speed up the process some. But what I really wanted to share was my new “plein air” pal… Bailey, my sheltie. Shelties are NOT known to laying quietly at your side, or for being good lap dogs. They want to GO GO GO!! Bailey is no exception. But, I need to walk her, and we live near the ocean so I want to do some “painting”. So I decided to take my art stuff with me, while Bailey and I walked. I learned a valuable lesson the first day. I “tried” to do some sketching about a 1/4 miles into our walk.

She was “okay” for about 10 mins. Just about enough time for me to make this sketch. Then it was GO GO GO…. we finished our 2.5 mile walk and went home.

I really wanted to make this work, so the next time, I stopped about 1/2 thru our usual walk. Bailey was being a “pretty good girl”, but then a truck pulled up and totally blocked our view so it was time to move on. I was able to whip out this tiny watercolor.

The next day, with “lessons learned” I grabbed a picnic table about 1/2 way thru our walk, away from the parking spots, away from anyone else and was able to do this little sketch. Not the best, but moving toward my goal. Bailey did not interrupt.

If you are wondering who my new plein air pal is… it’s the B dog!
